Virginia Trio named ACC athletes of the week
Freshman swimmer Fran Crippen, senior wrestler Bob Seidel and senior women's tennis player Jennifer Tuchband all received the nod as the top athletes in the ACC last week.
Crippen won four events over the weekend in dual meets against UNC and Clemson. In the process, he set an ACC record in the 1000m freestyle. This is his third Swimmer of the Week selection.
Seidel was lauded for his perfect 3-0 week while helping Virginia wrestling knock off UNC for the first time in 28 years.
The No. 112-ranked Tuchband was named Women's Tennis Player of the Week for a pair of singles victories and a doubles win in leading the Cavaliers to victories over two ranked opponents.
