Lundy named as Doak Walker Candidate

Sophomore Wali Lundy was listed as a candidate for the Doak Walker Award, handed out to the nation's top college running back.

The Southern Methodist University athletic forum announced yesterday its list of 39 preseason candidates for the trophy.

The Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee, made up of former college All-America running backs and print and electronic media members, will then vote on the winner in late November.

Lundy burst on the national scene last year with a breakout freshman campaign, leading the team with 826 rushing yards and six touchdowns. At the Continental Tire Bowl against West Virginia, he scored four touchdowns and took home Most Valuable Player honors.
