Cavaliers sweep in-state rival

The Cavalier volleyball team improved to 4-0 on the season sweeping in-state opponent James Madison on Tuesday.This is Virginia's best start since they went 7-0 to start the 1999 season.

In Tuesday's match up, Virginia nearly matched their impressive .323 2003 season hitting percentage by notching 48 kills on 106 attempts with only 14 errors. Kristin Chaney led the Cavaliers with a .600 hitting percentage and added a career-high 10 kills. Senior outside hitter Paige Davis tallied nine kills and fell one ace short of tying the school record of seven.

Senior libero Whitney Ashcroft added 15 digs on Tuesday, moving into eighth place on Virginia's career digs list with 1,033.

Virginia will take the court again this Friday against Liberty at Memorial Gym as part of the Jefferson Cup.
