Cheers and Jeers: The Column's

If you've ever read the actual TV Guide magazine (I'm not afraid to admit I have), you might be familiar with the "Cheers and Jeers" section -- a column which comments on the minutiae of the television universe (think the E! True Hollywood Story of "Saved by the Bell" or the premiere of "Trading Spaces: Family"). The whole thing is a little lame, but, since I have been incapable of formulating a coherent argument on anything even remotely resembling a full column since the Wake Forest win, I figured I would just mimic this style and comment on a variety of topics relating to the minutiae of the University universe.

CHEERS to whoever thought of this new water cooler stipulation at fraternity parties. Brilliant. Really. You deserve the Nobel Prize for Greek Public Relations. Granted, I do have some fratty friends whose only half-joking response to this water idea was, "What's next? Should we set up a hot dog machine and sell nachos? Maybe we could dye the water to at least look like beer

The University’s Orientation and Transition programs are vital to supporting first year and transfer students throughout their entire transition to college. But much of their work goes into planning summer orientation sessions. Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
