Virginia's Miller in semifinalist pool for Mackey Award

TheNassau County (N.Y.) Sports Commission announced yesterday that the Cavaliers' sophomore tight end Heath Miller is one of eight semifinalists for the 2003 John Mackey Award. The Mackey Award is given annually to the best collegiate tight end in the nation.

Miller currently leads the ACC in catches (47) and yards (496).His touchdown against Florida State was the 13th touchdown of his career, making Miller the holder of the ACC record for most touchdowns by a tight end.

Finalists for the Mackey Award will be selected on Wednesday, Nov. 26 and the winner of the award will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
