The Cavaliers and mid-major heavyweight Gonzaga have contracted to play a two-game series against each other.

In the 2005-06 season Virginia will travel to Spokane, Wash., to take on the Bulldogs while Gonzaga will come to Charlottesville the following season. That season (2006-07), Virginia's new John Paul Jones basketball arena is scheduled to be completed.

The only previous meeting between the two schools occurred in the first round of the 2001 NCAA Tournament when No. 12 seed Gonzaga upset the No. 5 seed Cavaliers 86-85.
