HONOR RECAP

The following is an update on students who have left the University this semester admitting guilt to an honor offense:

August 31, 2004 A second-year student in the College of Arts & Sciences admitted to plagiarizing a short assignment and a final paper in an introductory level class. The case was discovered and initiated by a faculty member.

October 25, 2004

A fourth-year student in the School of Engineering and Applied Science admitted to stealing and forging a check of another student. The case was initiated by the other student.

November 15, 2004

A first-year student in the College of Arts & Sciences was deemed to have left admitting to a lying offense regarding lying to a professor about a family emergency in order to obtain an extension on an exam in an introductory-level class. The case was initiated by another student.

Ongoing

The Honor Committee is currently investigating 19 cases and has seven trials and two appeals pending.
