After an impressive performance at a University of Virginia football camp earlier this summer, Al Groh and his staff decided to offer one of its 25 scholarships for the 2006 season to Nate Collins, the Richmond Times Dispatch reported Saturday.
The 6-foot-2, 265-pound Port Chester, N.Y. native quickly accepted, bringing the number of Virginia commitment to nine with over three months left until signing day.
Collins is a rising senior at King & Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford, Conn. and may play inside linebacker or nose tackle at Virginia. He also distinguished himself as a running back in high school and has completed the 40-yard dash in 4.76 seconds.
