Estimated reading time: 1 minutes

A University student and a University professor were the targets of a robbery Friday night in the E-3 Scott Stadium parking lot, according to a police report.

The victims, ages 26 and 39, were approached at about 9:20 p.m. by two men, described as 20- to 25-year-olds wearing dark clothing. The assailants pointed handguns and demanded the victims' wallets, according to the report.

One victim was struck on the back of the head and received a slight laceration, according to University Police Chief Mike Gibson.

Gibson called the crime a "very rare occasion" and said University Police are using all available resources to successfully complete the investigation.

He added that University Police do not yet have a firm suspect in the case.

Gibson said members of the University community should remain aware of their surroundings while out and about.
