Devlin elected Trustees pres.

Class and school council officers were announced last night by the University Board of Elections.

Current Third-Year Council president Christine Devlin was elected president of the Fourth-Year Trustees.

"I am honored to take on this job, and really excited to do it again next year," Devlin said. "I look forward to building on the past successes of our council and working off of what the current trustees have started."

Laura Hussey, current Third-Year Council vice president will serve as vice president of the Trustees.

Second-year College student David Newsome will become Third-Year Council president, and second-year College student Christina Polenta will serve as Third-Year Council vice president.

First-year College student Michelle Henry was elected Second-Year Council president, while first-year College student Kadeem Cooper was elected Second-Year Council vice president.

In the individual school council races, third-year student Megan Roberts was elected president of the Arts & Sciences Council.

"I am really excited," Roberts said. "The first order of business will be the 'What is ASC' campaign. We will have our name plastered everywhere. Secondly, we are going to get ready for College Week, and also get our Web site up and running. I am committed to my platform."

Second-year student Lindsey Turner was elected ASC vice president in what was a close and narrowly divided race.

Turner actually received a lower number of votes than second-year candidate Kendall Wallace in the first instant runoff voting period, but, because of the addition of votes during the second runoff, was able to claim victory, 1,360 votes to 1,323.

The position of ASC treasurer will be held by third-year student Serena Rasoul, while second-year student Sarah Sternlieb will be the ASC secretary.

Third-year student Alison Aguero was elected president of the Engineering Council, while, third-year student Melanie Lambert was elected fourth-year president of the Engineering Council. Second-year student Kristine Cheesman was elected vice president of Engineering Council. First-year student Jennifer Wilson will serve as Engineering Council treasurer while first-year student Beth Martin will serve as secretary.

All races for the Architecture School Council were uncontested.

The president of the Architecture School Council will be third-year student Heather Fischer. Elected to vice president was third-year student Megan Mattingly. Second-year student Lawrence Galante was elected treasurer of the Architecture School Council, while third-year student Blair Dargusch was elected secretary.

Third-year student Meera Deepak was elected Commerce Council president. In an uncontested race, third-year student Rich Cleary was elected vice president of the Commerce Council. Third-year student Megha Agarwal will serve as Commerce Council secretary, while third-year student Ryan Huttar will serve as treasurer. Commerce Council fourth-year representatives will be third-year students Kelly Connors, Matt Good and Alexander Shapiro.

In uncontested races, third-year students Dmitri Adler and John Boisture were elected to the positions of Commerce Council social chair and service chair, respectively.

Third-year student Margaret Overton was elected Nursing Council president in an uncontested race. Also elected in uncontested Nursing School races were third-year student Rebecca Green for vice president, third-year student Anne Marie Neatrour for treasurer and second-year student Jacqueline Giles, for social committee chair. Third-year student Christin Lipscomb will serve as fourth-year representative. In the only contested Nursing Council race, third-year Megan Chinen edged out her only competitor for the position of secretary.

The Education School Council will be led by graduate student president P. Jesse Rine. Serving as vice president will be graduate student Steve Sherman. Third-year student Katherine Cherry will take over as social chair, while third-year student Katie Alley will become the BA/MT representative. Second-year student Will Eden was elected faculty council representative. All Education school races were uncontested.
