The Honor Committee elected its new Executive Committee, to be led by third-year College student Ben Cooper as Honor chair, during its retreat this weekend.
Other Executive Committee members elected this weekend include third-year College student Linda Liu, vice chair for investigations; third-year College student Allie Moore, vice chair for education; third-year College student Brian O'Neill, vice chair for trials; and first-year Law student Josh Hess, vice chair for community relations.
The annual retreat is intended to train new Committee members by educating them about the responsibilities of the Honor Committee, current Honor Chair Alison Tramba said.
"We have a lot of new Committee members with a lot of Honor experience, and they had a number of ideas for their term," Tramba said. "I think they're going to be well prepared."
The newly elected members of the Honor Committee vote on the Executive Committee positions at the end of the retreat. Current Committee members do not vote for the new Executive Committee, though current Executive Committee members moderate the discussion.
The new Committee also discussed its plans for the next year during the retreat.
"We did sit down and flesh out some goals," Cooper said. "Some of the key things we wanted to look into this year are the benefits an honor system provides, ways to reach out to the honor community and get them involved in what Honor is doing and to educate them as well."
Moore said that while in the past the Honor Committee has focused on visibility, the new Committee plans to emphasize tangibility by instituting a system that will benefit community members for upholding the system of Honor.
"There are some exciting prospects in the field of benefits," Hess added.
Cooper also listed procedural changes and improvements in technology that would increase efficiency and transparency in Committee affairs as among the new Committee's goals.
The new Committee will officially take office April 8.
