The procrastination party?

While Alex Cortes claims (“A clear oversight,” Sept. 18) that the Democrat-controlled Congress has abdicated their responsibilities by taking a vacation instead of acting on the energy crisis, one might ask what exactly the Republicans accomplished during their twelve years as the majority party. Now, the plan for a dramatic increase in renewable energy infrastructure comes as a welcome investment.
After all, the Bush administration could not even decide for eight years whether greenhouse gases are hazardous to human health. Can we wait another eight years before determining that drilling for oil is not a sustainable solution?
