Volleyball rebounds with two conference victories

Virginia’s volleyball team earned its first two conference victories of the season during the weekend.
The Cavaliers (10-7, 2-3 ACC) kicked off a two-week series of away games Friday with a victory against Boston College (6-11, 0-5 ACC). Virginia topped the Eagles 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-23) with the help of junior outside hitter Lauren Dickson, who hit a double-double, and freshman outside hitter Simone Asque, who led the team with 11 kills.
The next day, Virginia traveled to College Park. where the Cavaliers beat Maryland (5-12, 1-4 ACC) by a score of 3-1. The Cavaliers tamed the Terrapins with a stifling defense that held every Maryland player under a .175 hitting percentage. Dickson extended her streak of double-doubles to four matches, putting up 15 kills and 21 digs.
Virginia continues its stretch of conference road games this Friday and Saturday in North Carolina versus the Tar Heels at Chapel Hill and N.C. State at Raleigh.
