No more fun at Foxfield

The article in the 3/24 edition of the Cavalier Daily mentioning new rules for Foxfield is very infuriating. While at UVA we are typically luckier than other schools and police do not randomly break up house parties, Foxfield seems to be the party day for cops when they get the opportunity to be jerks for no reason. The purpose of police at Foxfield should be to promote safety and to punish those who get out of control. I already had an officer come into my plot last year while we were calmly talking, and this year’s rules take the entire fun out of the event. Maybe the event planners should realize that however much they like to delude themselves, Foxfield Races are a party for the students and if they want to continue inconveniencing us so much that we have to be checked for ID every 5 minutes by someone, we will keep our $40 and drink at home for free and they will see greatly reduced attendance. Punish irresponsible people, not everyone.
