University Army Cadet Aimee Moores, a member of the University’s Reserve Officers Training Corps program and a fourth-year College student, was awarded the 2013 General George C. Marshall Award last week. The award recognizes one cadet in each battalion every year, and is based on leadership, grade-point average and physical fitness.
“When you run the numbers and then you include the unquantifiables, there is really no other choice,” said Lietenant Colonel Michael Binetti, commander of the University’s ROTC program. “She’s a tremendous young lady, she’s great academically … she’s really motivated [and] she’s really dedicated to the program.”
As part of the award, Moores will attend a conference at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., in April with the other recipients of the Marshall Award.
Moores, who plans to eventually work as an Army doctor, said she always knew she wanted to do ROTC. “I come from a huge military family,” she said. “Both of my parents are in the Army, my sister did ROTC here before I did, and my two little brothers are at West Point.”
