Twenty-five of 53 races uncontested

Campaigns are in full swing for the University Board Elections next week to Student Council, Honor Committee, year-specific councils and school councils.

Election proceedings were delayed due to the snow days, but the the official candidate list was released 5 p.m. Sunday evening and can be “found on UBE’s site.”:https://www.student.virginia.edu/elections/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/SampleBallot2.pdf Candidates began campaigning after the release of the official list.

Of 53 races, 25 are uncontested, including Student Council President, Second Year Class President and Fourth Year Class President.

Students can cast their votes online or at UBE-sponsored booths, located in Newcomb and the Rotunda Dome Room. This is the first year UBE is sponsoring voting booths.

The use of new software this year, as well as new servers that are able to handle higher voter turnout, will enable the board to receive elections results immediately and avoid delay in releasing the results.
