Logic’s single “Young Jesus” is a treat for fans

Artist's sophomore album sets high bar for rappers

DMV-signed rapper Logic released “Young Jesus” Sept. 22. This jaw-dropping single is the first off his upcoming sophomore album, “The Incredible True Story,” to be released later this fall.

The song features Logic’s friend Big Lenbo in his recording debut, and it is one of the best songs Logic has released to date. Rather than having each rapper take separate verses, the song succeeds at a unique approach in which the two artists rap lines back and forth while also occasionally delivering several lines solo. The confidence, swagger and creativity on display make “Young Jesus” stands out among any of Logic’s other exceptional songs.

Deviating from the darker tones and storytelling of Logic’s debut album “Under Pressure,” this work instead returns to the jazzier and more rhythmic flows from his mix tape days. What is different from the mix tapes is the experience Logic now brings to the table as a full-fledged MC who has made a name for himself in today’s increasingly messy rap game.

“Young Jesus” is a fast-paced and exciting treat for Logic’s dedicated fan base, the RattPack. The piece sets high expectations for “The Incredible True Story.” Logic released album information as well as the single via his Twitter account.
