Junior midfielder Tara Vittese had another impressive week for No. 10 Virginia. Not only was she instrumental in helping the Cavaliers defeat two ranked teams, she was honored as the ACC Field Hockey Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Furthermore, she was named to the 18-man travel roster for the U.S. U-21 Junior World Cup. The World Cup begins Nov. 24 in Santiago, Chile.

Vittese, the National Player of the Year last season, already has seven goals and two assists on the year after 12 games. This past weekend she had a goal and two assists, both to senior midfielder Lucy Hyams, in a 4-2 win over No. 17 Wake Forest. Then, against No. 13 Old Dominion, she led the team to a 2-0 win with a goal and an assist.

This marks the fourth time Vittese has earned this honor in her career. However, it is the first time she has earned it this season. Duke’s Heather Morris, a senior forward, was the other honoree.

Virginia travels to Chapel Hill, N.C. to play No. 3 North Carolina Friday at 6 p.m.
