The Virginia men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed in the Liberty Elite Invitational this past weekend in Lynchburg, Va. Several athletes stood out for their performances.
Notably for the men’s team, sophomore Jack Lint finished first in the heptathlon with 5,385 points. He outlasted four Liberty athletes and Cavalier freshman Jack Claiborne. In the men’s shot put, junior Oghenakpobo Efekoro placed second in the finals with a personal best throw of 19.17 meters. Junior Kenneth Hagen took home first place in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:52.77.
On the women’s side, senior Christine Bohan represented Virginia well in the women’s shot put. Her throw of 15.27 meters was far ahead of the second place throw by Elon senior Breanna Warren (14.73m). In the women’s 800-meter run, freshman Emma Call placed second with a time of 2:08.74. In the long jump, junior Holly Sullivan and sophomore Alana Herran finished first and second, respectively.
Virginia will compete Saturday in the UCS Invitational in Winston Salem, N.C.
