Police respond to brandishing of a firearm on Elliewood Avenue

The suspect was taken into custody by police early Wednesday morning

Early Wednesday morning, an individual brandished a firearm on Elliewood Avenue, according to a Community Alert email sent by UPD Police Chief Michael Gibson.

During an argument with another person on Elliewood Avenue early Wednesday morning, an unidentified individual reportedly brandished a handgun, according to a Community Alert email sent by University Police Department Chief Michael Gibson. 

The incident was reported at 12:11 a.m. Wednesday and both UPD and the Charlottesville Police Department responded to the reported incident. Gibson’s email said the suspect was taken into custody without incident. 

CPD and UPD did not immediately return requests for more details early Wednesday morning.
