Shots fired incident reported in 200 block of 9th Street

CPD found shell casings at the scene but no injuries were reported

The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a shots fired incident Sunday at 3:26 a.m. in the 200 block of 9th Street, per a community alert sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gun shots and the sound of a vehicle being stuck but no description of the subject was provided. CPD discovered shell casings at the scene but no injuries were reported. 

This community alert is the second of August following a shots fired incident on August 16.  

Community alerts are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations. Timely warnings are issued when there is an ongoing threat to the community.
