Shots fired reported in 800 block of Hardy Drive

CPD discovered shell casings upon arrival but no injuries were reported

The Charlottesville Police Department responded to a shots fired incident Tuesday at 11:45 p.m. in the 800 block of Hardy Drive, per a community alert sent by Timothy Longo, chief of the University Police Department and vice president for security and safety.

The suspect was reported to be running from the scene in an unknown direction and was described as a male. CPD discovered shell casings at the scene but no one was injured. 

This community alert is the first since July 17 and the first of the month. 

Community alerts are shared via email to the University community when there is timely information about a threat that can be released to the community without compromising any ongoing investigations. Timely Warnings are issued when there is an ongoing threat to the community.
