“4,026 Register In All Departments of University For Coming Semesters”

This article reports on the University’s registration analytics at a time when the University exclusively enrolled men. In 1950, U.Va. was seeing an overall decrease in enrollment, with most departments seeing a drop in numbers, which was believed to be a result of fewer men receiving money under the G.I. Bill. However, the numbers were expected to increase slightly through late enrollment, which required a late fee of only $5.

The bookstore was not only expanded but also no longer required students to hang up their backpacks before entering. Previously, students had to register for classes in person; now, students are able to do it over the phone. Old Cabell Hall construction was finished, and like each year, the University’s prestige and reputation continued to grow.
