Monday, Chris Feifs was named the associate head coach and defensive coordinator for Virginia men’s lacrosse. The arrival of Feifs marks the first choice at the assistant coach level under Coach Kevin Cassese’s leadership of the Cavaliers.
“[Next season] we can be more surgical in our approach to really filling needs around the good young players that are here and the good young players that are coming in,” Pollard said. “[We can] really be in a position when we hit the ground running in the fall, to have so much more continuity in terms of player development.”
“We’ve got our hands full, it’s a tough regional,” Pollard said. “We are thrilled to still be playing … this group has shown a lot of resilience to stay in the fight.”
“I have full confidence in this team’s ability to win a regional and continue to advance, but we have to play better,” Coach Chris Pollard said. “We have to get better in all three phases than we were the last two days ... We’ll get back to practice on Monday and get ready for a big week in Charlotte.”
Virginia will be riding into the NCAA tournament match after a weekend trip to Charlotte, N.C., where the lacrosse squad vanquished the Queen City ghosts that had plagued the football and men’s basketball teams.
There is a lot on the line in this weekend’s ACC Tournament for the fourth-seeded Cavaliers, starting with a semifinal showdown Friday at 5 p.m. against No. 1 seed Notre Dame.
“I thought that was maybe as good as Max Stammel’s looked all year,” Coach Chris Pollard said postgame. “The difference-maker was the ability to land the slider and get something going the opposite way.”
“I want to give Syracuse credit,” Tiffany said. “I felt like their entire team had a greater sense of urgency … Syracuse’s offense is really, really difficult to stop.”

Ultimately, Virginia would win 3-1. Three hits and seven walks for Virginia would prove enough to push past Boston College as the series concluded in front of the second-largest crowd ever at Eddie Pellagrini Diamond on a cool spring afternoon.
