Plan 9 Music will allow its lease in the Anderson Brothers Building on the Corner to expire at the end of May, which will lead to the closure of music venue Satellite Ballroom. This announcement, which Plan 9 owner James Bland said he will make public today, comes after months of speculation as to whether the Richmond-based chain would abandon its Corner location, forcing its three subtenants -- Higher Grounds Coffee, Just Curry and Satellite Ballroom -- to look elsewhere for space.

The Corner could see significant changes in the coming months if Plan 9 Music decides not to renew its 10-year lease in the three-story Anderson Brothers Building. The record store's lease, which expires in May, also covers three subtenants: Higher Grounds, Just Curry and Satellite Ballroom. Changes to the building's main tenant could lead to the closure of these three locally owned businesses.

Though a legal battle has surrounded the program for nearly three years, the Google Books Library Project continues to digitize hundreds of thousands of books from the University's library system. The partnership between Google and the University, which began in November 2006, gives the company access to more than 5.1 million of the University's library books. All of these works will be considered for digitization and inclusion in the ever-growing online database Google Book Search.

The sheriff would arrive in a few hours to escort her from the premises, said the frantic sounding woman on the telephone.
