After completing leadership transitions in the beginning of April, the members of the 2015-16 Honor Committee have said they are looking forward to a productive term in which they hope to establish a deeper connection to students and foster discussion about the newly-approved referenda.

The Honor Committee held a panel Thursday in the University Chapel to give the community the opportunity to hear honor representatives’ thoughts on proposed referenda. The panel was chaired by fourth-year Commerce student and honor representative Joe Martin, vice chair for trials Nick Lee, a fourth-year College student, graduate Medicine representative Michael Billet, third-year Education representative Jessica Drews and graduate College representative Ben Liebov.

The Honor Committee will hold a panel Feb. 17 in the University Chapel to discuss three proposed referenda, which — if passed — will open the possibility for a multi-sanction system. The Committee members will also share their opinions and thoughts on the issue, and allow panel attendees to ask questions on each of the proposed referenda.

The George Washington National Forest recently released its Draft Forest Land and Resource Management Plan, which would allow for fracking on 177,000 acres of the forest under lease and other land currently owned by private parties. The forest encompases a total 1.1 million acres of forest land.
