Following a dominant sweep against Pittsburgh at home, Virginia softball traveled to Louisville for its final ACC series of the season. The Cavaliers (27-23, 13-11 ACC) responded to a close loss Friday with a win Saturday afternoon, but were unable to handle the offensive firepower of the Cardinals (26-21, 10-11 ACC) Sunday to come away with the series victory.

Coming off a win against James Madison Wednesday, Virginia softball faced No. 13 Duke in Charlottesville this weekend. Although they kept the first game close, the Cavaliers (22-19, 8-7 ACC) were blown out by the Blue Devils (34-5, 14-2 ACC) in the remaining two games to extend their conference losing streak to six.

Virginia played James Madison Wednesday evening at Palmer Park in Charlottesville, coming out of the game with a 7-1 victory. The Cavaliers (22-16, 8-4 ACC) were able to bounce back from a disappointing three-game sweep at the hands of Florida State with the win over the Dukes (15-16, 4-2 CAA).

Virginia softball played Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. this past weekend, winning all three games. Despite all three being close matchups, the Cavaliers (21-12, 8-1 ACC) were able to prevail over the Eagles (14-14, 2-7 ACC) and rise to second place in the conference standings.

The Virginia softball team faced off against Maryland in Charlottesville Tuesday evening. The Cavaliers (13-9, 0-0 ACC) scored seven runs in the second inning, which powered them to a run-rule victory over the Terrapins (9-10, 0-0 Big Ten).

Virginia softball traveled to Greensboro, N.C. to compete in the UNCG Invitational this past weekend. The Cavaliers (9-6, 0-0 ACC) got wins against Towson, Bucknell and Loyola Chicago but were unable to defeat North Carolina Greensboro despite hitting three home runs.

In a continuation of a frustrating season for the Virginia women’s basketball team, the Cavaliers (3-13, 0-6 ACC) dropped all three ACC matchups last week to Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Duke. Although it showed glimpses of promise at times, Virginia simply could not overcome the challenges that go along with capturing the team’s first conference win of the season.

No. 2 Virginia women’s soccer will play No. 24 Notre Dame Sunday afternoon as it looks to solidify its position as one of the top teams in the nation. The Cavaliers (12-1-1, 5-0-1 ACC) will be challenged by the hot Fighting Irish (12-1-1, 6-0-0 ACC), who are riding the momentum of an eight-game win streak.

The No. 10 Virginia women’s golf team placed second in the Windy City Collegiate Classic, a two-day tournament at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill. No. 14 Stanford won the tournament with a score of 878, finishing 14 over par. The Cavaliers were not far behind, shooting 22 over par and finishing with a three round score of 886.
