Three members of the Virginia men's lacrosse squad were named to the CollegeLacrosseUSA.com Pre-Season All-American Team. Junior defenseman Mark Koontz and attackman Conor Gill were selected as members of the first team, while senior midfielder Hanley Holcomb was chosen for the second team.

After losing to Louisiana Tech in the semifinal of the Preseason NIT yesterday in West Lafayette, Ind., things didn't get any better for the Virginia women's basketball team yesterday in the consolation game. The No. 16 Cavs took Texas to double overtime, but lost 56-55 in a game characterized by poor shooting and constant lead changes.

The 2000-01 Virginia wrestling season kicked off Sunday night with the annual Blue-Orange intra-squad exhibition meet. The Orange team bested the Blue, 22-12, by capturing six of the nine matches, but the result was not as important as the atmosphere. When choosing the two teams, coach Lenny Bernstein aimed for an even mix of talent in an attempt to create a real sense of the regular season.

The Virginia men's golf team, led by senior Cameron Yancey, finished in ninth place at the Duke Golf Classic in Durham, N.C. yesterday. Yancey totaled a 1-over total of 217, good for seventh place individually.
