You wouldn’t know the Virginia volleyball team was on a seven-game losing streak if you attended their practice Thursday morning. The team looked loose and calm in their end-of-practice scrimmage, keeping their poise as coach Dennis Hohenshelt critiqued their play from the sidelines.
The Virginia volleyball team went winless its second-straight tournament, dropping all three of its matches at the Baylor Classic.
What: Baylor Classic
The Virginia volleyball team was unable to come out of its third tournament of the season with a win, dropping three straight games at the Bluegrass Battle in Lexington, Ky. The Cavaliers entered the tournament 3-3 and were looking to get on a win streak, but could not get any momentum going against the competition.
What: LSU Tiger Classic
The Virginia volleyball team experienced its first highs and lows of the season in the girls’ first three matches of the weekend. The team competed for the annual Cavalier Classic title in Memorial Gymnasium, hosting Buffalo, George Washington and Northwestern in the tournament.
The Virginia women’s volleyball team finished up its final practice at Memorial Gymnasium Thursday morning. For the final 30 minutes, the team scrimmaged in what felt like a regular season game. Each side got loud for every point, jumping and diving like they were playing for something real. The team looked ready to take on the regular season.
