Unity Cville, a group comprised of many local organizations, chapters and businesses, hosted a series of events Saturday to promote open, hate-free environments in light of the Ku Klux Klan rally held in Justice Park. The events ranged from an informational session on the history and context of white supremacist groups in the U.S. and Charlottesville to a community potluck lunch.

The University chapter of Phi Kappa Psi has reached a settlement in its lawsuit against Rolling Stone, Wenner Media Inc. and Sabrina Rubin Erdely, according to fraternity spokesperson Brian Ellis. According to NBC29, the fraternity won $1.65 million. Its original lawsuit asked for $25 million.

The Board of Visitors began their June meeting Thursday in which they elected James B. Murray Jr. as the new vice rector. The Academic and Student Life Committee also established pan-University institutes, a new professorship and a new degree program during its meeting, while the Audit, Compliance and Risk Committee passed its audit plan for the 2018-19 fiscal year.

The University Police Department is investigating multiple bomb threats aimed at several University buildings. The threats were conveyed through letters electronically sent to University printers, according to a press release from by Crime Prevention Coordinator Ben Rexrode.

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos addressed the Class of 2017 Friday at the Valedictory Exercises in a speech on failure and perseverance. The ceremony also featured the presentation of the class gift and several awards.

A group of protesters held a demonstration in Lee Park Saturday night against the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue. The protesters carried torches and have drawn criticism from Charlottesville and University leaders, some of whom have compared it to a Ku Klux Klan rally.
