In the age of big, bloated Michael Bay monstrosities and flippant, soulless romantic comedies, one begins to worry about the direction of the film industry. Thank god for movies like George Clooney's The Ides of March, a smart and wonderfully acted political drama that, God forbid, makes audiences think.

Moneyball is, in a word, perplexing. It has a great cast, a sharp script and a good director. Sadly, it lacks a crucial element that can make or break any movie: a compelling story.

The summer movie season is always extremely crowded, as wannabe blockbusters fight for box-office glory in the heat. This year is no different, and although many of these big-budget popcorn flicks inevitably will be duds, this season I am particularly excited for the influx of superhero films that will be on display.

When it comes to television, comedy is hard. It's difficult enough to sustain a funny premise for a single movie, let alone many seasons with dozens of shows. Luckily, producers sometimes get it right, and a show will come along that consistently tickles the audience's funny bone week after week.

The Adjustment Bureau is, in a word, disappointing. It is a movie that should have been exciting, romantic and fun. Despite some solid acting from the two leads, the film is still none of those things, and really just becomes an almost boring and unintentionally silly movie.
