Heroes look to take box office

Studios line up high profile franchises for summer season

The summer movie season is always extremely crowded, as wannabe blockbusters fight for box-office glory in the heat. This year is no different, and although many of these big-budget popcorn flicks inevitably will be duds, this season I am particularly excited for the influx of superhero films that will be on display.

First on the list is Thor, starring Chris Hemsworth as the eponymous lead. Thor is based on the Marvel comic book of the same name, which in turn is based on the god from Norse mythology. The comic was created by Stan Lee during the 1960s and went on to become a Marvel staple in the years to come. There is a lot to look forward to in this film adaptation, especially the quality of the cast.
