The men’s tennis team got its 2016 season started off right this past Friday, sweeping a doubleheader against Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky in convincing fashion, while dropping only two sets total throughout the day.

The eighth-ranked women’s tennis team completed a sweep of the their bracket of the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday, defeating both BYU and Columbia. The team will now move on to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships at the University of Wisconsin early next month.

The Virginia Women’s Tennis team plays host to the ITA Kickoff Weekend starting Friday in Charlottesville. The tournament, which will be held at the Boar’s Head Sports Club, will feature the Cavaliers as the top seed of their own individual bracket alongside opponents Columbia, Maryland and Brigham Young.

A pair of players from the Virginia men’s tennis team and four from the women’s side head to Flushing Meadows, New York, for the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship beginning Thursday. The Cavaliers boast the top seed in both the men’s and women’s singles draws, as well as the top-seeded tandem in the men’s doubles draw. The USTA/ITA National Indoors will wrap up the fall season for both teams.

The Virginia men’s golf team wrapped up its fall season Tuesday morning on a positive note, placing second in the abbreviated CSU Kiawah Classic. Play was suspended during Tuesday’s third round due to a mass of water which collected on the course at the drenched Turtle Point Golf Club. With the team matchups still within their first nine holes of their respective rounds, only the first two rounds of play were officially recorded.
