From an incredible one-handed catch against Penn State that put the Virginia football team in a position to kick a game-winning field goal, to a clutch game-winning catch against Miami in the back of the endzone, junior tight end Jake McGee had his fair share of highlights in last year’s otherwise disappointing football season. He continued to shine in spite of an overall dismal offensive outing against Oregon, snagging eight passes, twice as many as his previous single-game best. In doing so, McGee has emerged as one of the anchors of the Cavalier offense.

The hype surrounding the Virginia football team coming into this season largely revolved promising sophomore quarterback David Watford and star recruit, freshman running back Taquan “Smoke” Mizzell. All that talk, much like the game, was rained on Saturday when Virginia faced BYU.

The Virginia track and field team will be traveling to Raleigh Thursday to compete in the ACC Outdoor Championships. Both the men and women’s squad will look to improve on their respective sixth and 10th place finishes from last year.

The Virginia Track and Field team opens up its outdoor season with a home meet at Lannigan Field at this Saturday’s Virginia Cup. The team will host fellow in-state rivals James Madison, Liberty, Radford and VCU.

The Virginia track and field team will be competing this weekend at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Blacksburg. Both the men and the women finished fourth overall in this meet last year.
