The Jefferson Trust held an award ceremony Friday in Pavilion III, honoring and granting money to organizations and efforts in the Charlottesville area that have worked to better and uphold the University community. The group will give grants in 2015 totaling over $630,000 to at least 14 initiatives.

The Minority Rights Coalition elected its new Board members Wednesday. The executive board members will be Chair Parisa Sadeghi, Chief Financial Officer Sara Surface and Chief Publicity Officer Gloria Roh — all College third-years — along with Vice President of Organizations Emily McDuff, a third-year Engineering student, and Vice President of Administration Alex Adames, a second-year College student.

Commonwealth Judge Alfred Swersky dropped four felony charges Wednesday against former Del. Joe Morrissey, I-Henrico, contending he presented fake documents in a previous case. Arlington County Commonwealth’s Attorney Theo Stamos said he plans to pursue further legal action in appellate court.

The Executive Board of the Board of Visitors selected third-year College student Daniel Judge on Friday as the new student Board of Visitors member. A double major in political philosophy, policy and law and philosophy, Judge currently serves on Student Council as an Academic Affairs Committee co-chair and as a student liaison to the SIS Advisory Board.

EPR Properties purchased Wintergreen, a Virginia resort, on Thursday from James C. Justice II. The four season resort will be leased by and managed by Pacific Group Resorts, a company which currently owns and operates the New Hampshire Ragged Mountain Resort and the Maryland Wisp Resort.

A new laser technology system is being used to aid in the renovation of the University’s iconic Rotunda. Four lasers will target 130 prismatic targets positioned through and around the Rotunda to detect any possible movements in the structure, according to a University press release.
