This is the eleventh community alert of the semester and the second of October, following a “peeping Tom” incident reported Oct. 16.
While most reported crime statistics decreased in 2020, students, parents and community members have widely shared a sense of fear over a perceived increase in violence around Grounds recently.
This is the ninth community alert sent to the community since the beginning of the fall semester, and the first instance of prowling.
A group of approximately six males was reported to have approached the victim, who was walking northbound on Rugby Road near Beta Bridge.

Huguely was first found guilty of second-degree murder and grand larceny in February 2012 and was sentenced to 23 years in prison later that year.
According to the alert, the resident was awoken by a light at her window as the suspect pressed on her window screen. The resident called out and the subject fled in an unknown direction.
This is the fifth shots fired report in the last three weeks.
The incident is the fourth shots fired incident reported in the past two weeks.
This incident marks the third timely warning sent out by Longo this fall.
This is the first community alert since students began moving in for the fall semester Wednesday.
The suspect is described as between 30 and 40 years old with a mustache and an afro-style haircut. He was wearing a red shirt and black shorts.
CPD is also investigating a shots fired incident that occurred early Friday morning in the 800 block of Hardy Avenue.
Five other breaking and entering incidents have occurred over the past week in off-Grounds areas.
According to Longo’s alert, the University Police Department is unsure whether the break-ins are related.
UPD detectives identified several recurrent patterns, including faking government calls, posing as buyers on online marketplaces and threatening arrest.

The judge wrote that the large award was necessary in order to punish North Korea and deter similar behavior in the future.
The judge in the case said he will formally sentence Fields in March.
