Hogan announces reorganization

Changes to the structure of Executive Vice President Patrick Hogan’s office took effect Monday, including the reorganization of the management team in lieu of hiring a new Chief Financial Officer. The restructuring, announced last week, seeks to promote the streamlining goals laid out by University President Teresa Sullivan.

Praxis Network promotes digital humanities study

In an effort to increase inter-university collaboration in studying digital humanities, the University’s Scholarly Communications Institute debuted the Praxis Network Thursday. As part of its first stage, the initiative will provide a website for graduate students across the world to document their research processes and share them with other institutions, said Bethany Nowvisckie, director of the institute.

Harringtons file civil lawsuit

Dan Harrington, father of the late Morgan Harrington, announced in an email Tuesday the Harrington family will file an amended civil lawsuit against defendant Regional Marketing Concepts, Inc. for negligence the night of their daughter’s disappearance at John Paul Jones Arena in 2009.

Sullivan keynote address kicks off Grad Days

“Grad Days” commenced Tuesday afternoon with a keynote speech by University President Teresa Sullivan on the future of graduate students at the University in the light of major changes in the higher education system.

University researchers receive grants

The University’s Biomedical Innovation Fund announced Friday the awarding of a total of $200,00 to several University research projects, to promote collaborative research efforts potentially leading to improved diagnostic techniques in disease treatment.

UJC elects executive committee

The University Judiciary Committee elected its new leadership Sunday evening. Third-year Engineering student David Ensey was elected incoming Chair. Ensey and outgoing Chair Emily Forrester, a fourth-year College student, said the new Committee was generally pleased with the way the Committee was currently being run but hoped to improve the efficiency of the process.

Honor Committee selects new leadership

Third-year College Student Evan Behrle was elected chair of the Honor Committee this weekend during the Committee’s annual retreat. He ran unopposed for the position and will replace fourth-year College student Stephen Nash when the new committee takes office on April 1. The Committee also elected its four vice chairs.

Groups recognize World Water Day

Environmental and activist groups across Grounds used the United Nation’s World Water Day on Friday to raise awareness about local and international water issues. U.Va. Sustainability, a student-run organization supported by the University’s Office of Sustainability, set-up several tables on the west plaza of Newcomb Hall to educate students about their water consumption.
