As a sports writer for The Cavalier Daily, I find that one of the indirect consequences of covering a team, especially a non-major sport like baseball, is to increase turnout at games, particularly among my fellow students.

Despite the fact that students averaged around a 50 percent on the finalexam (isn't that a delightful exam to take) and the grading system is designed so students are rewarded for the failures of their lab partners, we're repeating the same experiments done by thousands of students for the past century.

Cavaliers' season ends in Wisconsin

The Virginia women's basketball team's season came to an end yesterday as the Cavaliers fell to Wisconsin in the WNIT quarterfinals. Despite a 14-point advantage in the second half, the Cavaliers were unable to hold off the Badgers.

Virginia unable to find success against Terrapins

Despite a valiant effort, the Virginia softball team was unable to overcome the Terrapins' five grand slams in this weekend's three-game series at The Park. The Cavaliers (10-22, 0-6 ACC) lost Saturday's two games 15-1 and 8-3 and lost yesterday 11-1. Senior Stacey Jennings picked up the winfor the Terrapins (17-10, 3-0 ACC) to move to 5-7 in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

The Virginia men's lacrosse team not only went head-to-head with Johns Hopkins Saturday on the Blue Jays' home turf, but defeated them 7-5. "I am really proud of our team," Virginia coach Dom Starsia said.
