Throughout the past decade, the Virginia softball team has struggled. This season, the Cavaliers hope to overcome previous woes and record some wins as they play an ACC-dominated schedule.
Using a balanced game strategy, Virginia managed to defeat East Carolina 21-6 in its first game of the season. This was the first time since 2019 that the Cavaliers scored 20 or more goals in one game.
The positivity rate for tests conducted last week was 1.8 percent, but the overall positivity rate, which includes all tests administered since July 5 is 0.8 percent.
The Cavaliers topped TCU to advance to the semifinals, but then dropped their first match of the season against North Carolina and finished the tournament with a loss to host Illinois in a consolation match.
