Women's Soccer continues perfect run

The top-ranked Virginia women’s soccer team continued its perfect season Sunday, blanking Clemson 3-0 for its seventh shutout of the season to improve to 6-0 in ACC play for the first time in school history.

Field Hockey splits ranked road matches

The No. 4 Virginia field hockey team split a pair of games in New York this weekend, falling to No. 5 Syracuse before defeating No. 12 Albany. The Cavaliers allowed five goals in the two games, the most in any two-game stretch all season.

Maddening mistakes doom Virginia

Virginia has been flagged 35 times this season for 278 yards. The team earned 13 of those penalties Saturday, setting them back 93 yards on the field, but far further in actuality.

Men's Soccer dominates Pittsburgh, 5-0

The Cavaliers won their fourth game in a row and extended their unbeaten run to six games with a virtuoso performance. Virginia scored its most goals in a conference game since 2008 and held the Panthers without a shot on goal to win the first ACC matchup between the two teams.

Ball State blasts Virginia, 48-27

Defensive miscues and careless penalties gave Ball State (5-1, 2-0 MAC) good field position and the Cardinals took advantage, pulling away in the third quarter as the Cavaliers (2-3, 0-1 ACC) failed to provide many answers. “It was embarrassing,” coach Mike London said.

After offense flounders, Watford accepts responsiblity

Going into the week’s practices, Virginia head coach Mike London went to work on his offense, scrambling the offensive line and promoting young receivers to try and jumpstart productivity. Sophomore quarterback David Watford, however, refused to pin the Cavaliers’ offensive woes on anyone other than himself.

Three weeks ago, freshman linebacker Max Valles was just another name along the Virginia sideline, watching in awe of Oregon’s hypersonic offense. Fast forward to last Saturday and Valles is the Cavaliers’ starting outside linebacker, leading the team with 2.5 sacks against a potent Pittsburgh offense.

With the non-conference slate over, the Virginia volleyball team entered ACC play this weekend. After falling 3-0 on the road against Duke on Friday, the team swept Wake Forest 3-0 in Winston Salem, N.C. on Saturday.

Accustomed to high-scoring affairs, the Cavaliers (11-0-0, 5-0-0 ACC) were held to just one goal against the Terrapins (6-5-0, 2-3-0 ACC), but their defense proved impenetrable as they held on for a 1-0 win, extending their season-opening winning streak to 11 games.

Funlola Fagbohun, associate director of the first year experience, describes her experience working with OTP and how she strives to create a welcoming environment for first-years during orientation and beyond. Along with her role as associate director, summer Orientation leaders and OTP staff work continually to provide a safe and memorable experience for incoming students.
