Baseball: Junior pitcher Danny Hultzen starred on the mound and at the plate during Friday night's season-opening 6-4 win against Alabama-Birmingham by throwing 6.2 innings of one-run ball and knocking in two runs at the plate. Softball: The Virginia softball team (6-3) opened the East Carolina Pirate Classic by splitting a Friday doubleheader.
