When Virginia lost three starters to cramping in the second half of its 3-31 loss to Duke Saturday, all Virginia coach Al Groh could do was wonder if his team could handle any more blows to a roster already thinned by personnel losses relating to legal and academic issues.Against Duke, the losses of senior outside linebacker Clint Sintim and sophomore cornerback Ras-I Dowling appeared to be the backbreaking blow.

The Cavalier men?s soccer team maintained a perfect conference record and extended its winning streak to three Friday, beating rival Virginia Tech 2-1 at Thompson Field in Blacksburg.Virginia (5-3-0, 2-0-0 ACC) was led on the offensive end by junior forward Matt Mitchell, who scored both of the Cavaliers? goals and was a standout all night.

Cavaliers score in 77th minute to top Seminoles

Virginia sophomore forward Meghan Lenczyk headed a corner kick from freshman forward Lauren Alwine during the 77th minute against Florida State to give the Cavaliers a win last night in their first ACC match of the season.It was Czyk?s team-leading seventh goal and Alwine?s team-leading sixth assist on the season.
