Keydets no match for powerful Cavs

On the strength of senior Tom Hagan's bat and freshman Andrew Carraway's arm, the No. 17 Cavaliers (32-9) routed the visiting VMI Keydets 5-0 last night at Davenport Field. The Virginia offense came out firing on all cylinders in the early going, notching five hits, five walks and all five of the game's runs in the first three innings of play. The Cavalier scoring began in the bottom of the first, when two early walks were followed up by an RBI single by Brandon Guyer and a two-RBI double down the right-field line from Hagan.

Virginia ties for regular season ACC title After defeating Duke 5-2 at Ambler Tennis Stadium, Virginia has tied Duke and Miami for the regular season title in the ACC. The Cavaliers fell behind early, losing the doubles point for the first time in 14 matches.

Virginia takes eight titles at lone home meet

Over the weekend at the Milton G. Abramson/Lou Onesty Invitational, the Virginia track and field team won eight titles and had three athletes qualify to compete at Regionals. The Cavaliers hosted 1,200 athletes from more than 75 schools at Lannigan Field where events began Friday afternoon and concluded Saturday evening. In the discus, Virginia excelled in both the men's and women's competitions.

Duke's lost season impacts Cavaliers

In the third quarter of the University of Virginia's win over Johns Hopkins University, the Public Address announcer proudly announced "Beat the Record" Night for attendance would be April 15 when Virginia (11-0) would take on the Duke Blue Devils. Well, the record will not be broken.
