A tough season for the Virginia volleyball team ended this weekend, as the team lost its final two matches against Virginia Tech Friday and Pittsburgh Saturday.
After two big road wins last weekend, the Virginia volleyball team (7-23, 4-14 ACC) fell short in both of its matches this weekend against No. 6 North Carolina (25-3, 17-1 ACC) and North Carolina State (18-12, 11-7 ACC).

It’s no secret that it has been as rough season for the Virginia volleyball team thus far. The team has lost 11 games in a row en route to a 3-13 start to their season, and have been searching for a way to salvage their season as ACC play opened up.
In 16 games, the Virginia women’s volleyball team has suffered 13 losses. Last season, through 31 games, the Cavaliers lost the same amount of games – 13. Stating the obvious, it has not been a good season for Virginia volleyball.

The Virginia volleyball team could not break its losing streak in its first weekend of ACC play, falling to Wake Forest Friday, 3-1, before losing a heartbreaker Saturday against Duke, 3-2.
The Cavaliers will open their ACC slate with home games against the Demon Deacons (4-8) and the Duke Friday and Saturday night, respectively, on their home court.
