Students of the University have taken steps to ensure recent issues in the national spotlight garner attention on Grounds. Ferguson & Police Brutality The police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri sparked outrage among members of the Charlottesville community, who joined together in a series of events to speak out against police brutality and racial profiling.

Provost's office hosts passport drive

As a part of International Education Week, the Provost's office sponsored a Passport Drive in Newcomb Ballroom Tuesday, and it will return for a second day Wednesday from 10 a.m.

National Voter Registration Day Held in Charlottesville

By Mairead Crotty & Amirah AhmadCharlottesville and Albemarle County hosted a voter registration drive on the Downtown Mall Tuesday in honor of National Voter Registration Day.The event, which was the first National Voter Registration Day to be held in Charlottesville, served to both register and educate attendees about the state’s new voter ID law.The 2014 mid-term elections are a little more than a month away, and 471 Congressional seats and 36 governorships are at stake, including 11 House seats and one Senate seat in Virginia.
