Civil Rights news clips now available to the public

Over 200 clips documenting the Virginia civil rights movement now are available to the public because of the collaboration of the Virginia Center for Digital History, the University's Robertson Media Center and University students, according to History Prof.

Interim Miller director named

The Miller Center of Public Affairs recently appointed an interim director, Eugene V. Fife, to lead while the search for a permanent director continues. Fife currently serves on the Center's Governing Council and chairs the Center's Management Committee. The director position opened up in February when the previous director, Philip Zelikow, was appointed Counselor of the U.S.

IFC seeks to strengthen internal organization

With the recent institution of the new Inter-Fraternity Council officers, chapter presidents and their fraternities can expect a new set of goals for improving the internal organization of the Council. "The main goals for this year's IFC are to internally strengthen the system by giving the presidents a stronger voice, as well as educating individual chapter members," IFC President Ross Kimbel said. To reach these objectives, IFC has begun to make plans for several changes to the internal makeup of the IFC system, Kimbel said.

Plans to reconstruct Alderman Rd. dormitories underway

University students can expect an increase of on-Grounds housing in future years now that plans for completely reconstructing the Alderman Road dormitories are underway. Though the Board of Visitors must approve the construction project in May, Richard Kovatch, associate vice president for business operations, said it is possible that construction for the project could begin within the next year.
