​HORNE: Emphasize entrepreneurship

Not every student has the ability or aspires to pursue graduate studies, and knowing this, the University should work toward creating an undergraduate experience that encourages and heavily promotes the concept of creation and innovation.

HORNE: Cause and effect

The problem with the hashtag #JeSuisCharlie is it implies that if one does not stand with this publication, then he or she does not support free speech. One can support freedom of speech and still not support a publication that sets out to offend people by disseminating oppressive ideas.

The gray area of this issue — the confusion between what is or is not necessary force — could be resolved first by requiring all police departments to use body cameras on their officers.

HORNE: The Spotify illusion

Since music has become digital, bringing us so many options for how to listen to music, the choice to purchase music rather than find it somewhere else online has become a much more meaningful decision by the customer.

HORNE: Elusive objectivity

If these outlets received as much attention as the more popular outlets do, then the presence of biased reporting wouldn’t be such a problem.

HORNE: Treatment of tragedy

Connor’s suicide cannot be another off-limits topic that is swept under the rug; this has to be a discussion the administration is willing to have with the students.

It is our responsibility to acknowledge and pay our respects to not only the founder of the University, but also to each and every person that contributed to who we are today.

HORNE: Just a gift

In modern society, men do not pay for dates because the woman cannot. Men pay for dates as an act of kindness or a practice of tradition.

HORNE: Defy the statistics

Celebrities have even participated in the outcry for fair treatment of women across the United States. It has taken some time, but colleges all across the nation are beginning to follow suit.
