According to Lilian Rojas, Board of Visitors student representative and fourth-year Batten student, the Class of 2024 is defined by its resilience.
Part of DivestUVA’s mission is increased communication between the University and students on where its $13.6 billion endowment is being spent.
Charlottesville has four sister cities total, the other three being Huehuetenango, Guatemala, Poggio a Caiano, Italy and Winneba, Ghana.
Charlottesville City Council member Michael Payne said he believes that this project is a huge step forward for pedestrian safety.
Rojas will end her term as the Board’s student member in June, when she will then be succeeded by Lisa Kopelnik, current third-year College student and University Judiciary Committee chair.
Although the ordinance passed with much public support at the December hearing, the new code has faced some opposition.
The event was jointly sponsored with the Center for Effective Lawmaking.
Sanders asked the Council to allocate approximately $4 million for the acquisition of these properties.
After the event, Heaphy took questions from the audience of about 80 people, many of which were about the debate on the line between free speech and hate speech.
