Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative hosts Arts Incubator

The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative hosted their monthly meeting of The Arts Incubator Thursday night at their headquarters on Monticello Road. The Bridge’s Programming Manager Serena Gruia described The Incubator as a support group and salon for local artists and creative thinkers in the Charlottesville community.

Panel discusses Science, Technology policy careers

The Graduate Student Consulting and Beyond Club held a panel Thursday night to discuss Science and Technology Policy and various careers surrounding the field. The panel, held at Garrett Hall, aimed to discuss such issues as the disconnect between the sciences and policy, how society and government uses technological knowledge, how science and technology policy decisions are made and how to start a successful science and policy career.

Charlottesville competes in Energy Prize contest

Charlottesville is a finalist for the Georgetown University Energy Prize, a contest aimed toward increasing energy efficiency in small- to medium-sized communities. Two other Virginia cities, Blacksburg and Roanoke, are also in competition for the prize.

McAuliffe announces year-round school funding

Gov. Terry McAuliffe awarded $1.6 million in grants Wednesday to 29 schools in 13 divisions to support existing year-round education programs and help schools implement new programs in the 2014-15 or the 2015-16 school years.
