Robber shoots man in hold-up at Arby's

Charlottesville Police are investigating an armed robbery and shooting that took place late Tuesday night at Arby's fast food restaurant on Route 29.

At about 11:31 p.m. Tuesday night police received a call reporting that an armed robbery had taken place and that possibly someone had been shot, Sgt. F.G. Upman said.

The robbery took place inside the restaurant and involved two victims, one male and one female, Upman said.

During the robbery, a brown wallet and credit cards were stolen, he said.

The female victim reported no injures, but the male victim was shot in the small of the back and taken to University Hospital.

Information is not yet available on the current condition of the male victim, Upman said.

The perpetrator was a male, but a further description is not available, he said.

There are no suspects at this time and the case is still under investigation, he added.

A manager at Arby's declined to comment.

Investigator Don Campbell could not be reached for comment.
